Creative Challenge for December

Do you look forward to our monthly Creative Challenges as much as we do? Get ready to be inspired for the final challenge of 2022! This month we are using embossing folders in a creative way. Our concept artist chose the Pretty Flowers Embossing Folder and a variety of Classic Stampin’ Ink Pads (Balmy Blue, Fresh Freesia, Pale Papaya, Petal Pink, So Saffron, and Soft Seafoam) to create a posh and upscale card that’s super-easy to make. Using the Blending Brushes, apply a heavy amount of ink to the positive side of the folder in slightly slanted rows. Then, take a piece of Basic White Cardstock, insert it inside the embossing folder, and run it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. The color goes on beautifully on the debossed parts and creates lovely, white, distressed spaces on the raised areas. Multipurpose Liquid Glue is perfect for adhering the gold, framed piece to the sentiment and the Split Card Textures die cut to the card front. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop up the tag, and Glue Dots to adhere the Simply Elegant Trim and the leaves cut from Soft Sea Foam and Vellum Cardstock. Finish it by adding a few Brushed Butterflies for extra glitz. So pretty! Ready to make a great card using an embossing folder? Technique Focus

If you’ve seen our snowy and playful Santa Express Designer Series Paper, you may have already added it to your Christmas crafting shopping list. It may move to the top, however, after you check out this month’s technique focus: an adorable, tri-fold card showcasing our very jolly Santa Claus delivering Christmas cheer via the North Pole Express. To make this clever, expandable card, cut Basic White and Pool Party Cardstock at 3-1/2" x 9" (8.9 x 22.9 cm). Tear and adhere the Basic White Cardstock to the Pool Party Cardstock, then score at 3" (7.6 cm) and 6" (15.2 cm). Die cut the train from the Designer Series Paper using the Santa’s Train Dies and adhere the pieces to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals to give the train engine and cars a little pop! Adhere the festive sentiment—stamped in Shaded Spruce ink on a strip of Basic White Cardstock—and you’re done! Tie up your card with some Linen Thread to keep it closed. Step It Up

This week we made some stunning cards using the Hippest Hippos Stamp Set. If you like what you see, browse the Sale-A-Bration brochure for stamp sets and much more, available now until the end of August! CASUAL We kept our first card simple—we started with Petal Pink Cardstock and layered some Subtles Designer Series Paper on top. Then we stamped our hippo image on Smokey Slate Cardstock and finished with some white Baker’s Twine. AVID We stepped up our second card with another textured layer using the Hive 3D Embossing Folder. We also added more color to our hippo using Watercolor Pencils. We finished with white Baker’s Twine that we colored with Mint Macaron Stampin’ Blends. ARTFULLY AVID For our third card we used a Blending Brush to add Calypso Coral ink to the Petal Pink Cardstock before we embossed it. We finished this card with a few dazzling embellishments—we love the way the gold complemented the Petal Pink and added just the right amount of sparkle. KITE DELIGHT

 

Today's class I used Kite Delight which can be found on page 31 of the Mini Catalog. This is a stand alone set but so easy to fussy cut the kite's to add dimension to your projects. This is a fun, whimsical set that can be used for many occasions. It is also fun to use lots of color with this set!
